Final Day of Work!

As I am nearing the end of my pregnancy (37 wks 4 days as of this post) I have the next couple weeks to do my finishing touches on my nursery and relax and enjoy the last moments of my life without having a baby. With labor and delivery slowly approaching I am even more anxious and excited to go through this process and start my life as a new mom.

I had an amazing time on Friday, which was my last day of work, there was a St. Patricks Day/Going Away Party for me at my school with my students. After the work day was over a couple of my coworkers took me out to one of my favorite restaurants, Dixie Kitchen, and we enjoyed a great meal and girl talk!

I plan to spend time writing, working on new jewelry for my business Young Beautiful Fly  , in addition to putting up the baby’s bassinet and bed. The bassinet and bed is all I have left to finish up the nursery so I think I did pretty good with making sure that I was prepared for my baby girls arrival. I often sit in the room and look at all her stuff and go through the closet and look at her clothes and smell them just thinking about how much my life is going to change in an amazing way! As you can tell I am already, absolutely obsessed with my baby and she hasn’t even made it here yet. I have so many plans on things that we will do during the summer and I am so looking forward to that.

Deliciousness In Every Bite!

So I love to eat food. All types of food. I love trying new foods too! I am the type of person that will try anything, at least once. How do you know whether you would like something or not if you never try it? Well thats how I think, others may not feel the same.

When I was in my undergrad years I had a friend that could cook Samosas very well and she made them all the time. Probably because she knew how much I loved to eat them! The other day I had a craving for some but did not know where to get them so I did a google search and found restaurants that served them but that was not what I was looking for. I wanted to find a store that made them fresh so that I could go and buy as many as I would like and I didn’t have to wait to order them. So with the help of google and my cunning ability to drive and search I came across an Indian grocery store on my way home from work. I initially passed it and I just had to make a u-turn into that parking lot. I pulled in the parking lot praying “Oh God, please let them sell fresh Samosas” and to my surprise they did. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I bought 3 and then went home.

Spicy Potatoes with Peas in a pastry. Delicious Indian food!

If you are wondering how long those 3 Samosas lasted me, let me tell you this it didn’t last long. I got home ate one and then the other and before I knew it I had eaten all 3! Me being the food lover that I am, I hoped in my car drove back to the store and bought 10 more. Thank God they were only 99 cents a piece. I just absolutely love the spicy potatoes and the peas. I swear I could eat these almost everyday. If you have never tried Samosas, I am here to tell you, they are delicious and you should try it at least once. If you are anything like me you will fall in love with them.

Update on The Daniel Plan

So as I said previously in my post “The Daniel Plan” I would give you guys an update once I started reading it. Well, after reading only 3 1/2 chapters I have made the decision to make the lifestyle change. I know that it will be really good for my mind, body and soul. I will not only be healthier, more focused in life but it will also draw me closer into the presence of God; hence the faith portion of the book. I feel confident in making the choice to live this lifestyle.

There are 5 essentials to the Daniel Plan which makes it not just a book that helps you to lose weight or get healthy. The 5 essentials are:

1. Faith

2. Food

3. Fitness

4. Focus

5. Friends

As I go through each of these chapters I will give my thoughts on each and share them with you. So make sure to watch for the posts on these 5 essentials of the Daniel Plan. I hope that I can inspire or help someone to change their lifestyle, in order to be at your best!

The Daniel Plan

So a few days ago I went into the Family Christian bookstore by my house to go and buy me a study bible. It was the very first time that I had been in that store. I have always driven past it but never thought to go inside. When I walked in and went to the bible section, there were so many bibles that my head started to hurt. After spending about 40 minutes trying to find which study bible suited me best and then picking out a bible cover, I went to go checkout. When I approached the checkout counter the cashier told me about their free rewards cards and the benefits of having one. If your anything like me then you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE rewards cards. So once she gave me the card, she reached around and grabbed a book and told me that they were giving the book out for free to everyone who opted to sign up for the rewards card. I read the title and it was called the Daniel Plan, which I had never heard of in my entire life. The cashier began to explain how good of a book it is and how popular the book is, and I just nodded and said “ok”. Later that day I showed my grandma the study bible I had bought and the free book that was given to me, and her eyes lighted up like the sky on the 4th of July. Apparently, she had been looking for this book for quite sometime and couldn’t find it because it is really hard to get a hold of.

So earlier today I decided to read the back of the book and look at the table of contents at least to see what the book was about. Basically, it’s a book about having a healthier lifestyle, deepening your relationship with God and developing a community of supportive friends. The books goes through the topics of Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends. It also talks about living the lifestyle, gives you a 40-day fitness challenge, and a 40-day meal plan.

So it does sound quite interesting and I plan to start reading it during my spring break which is the first week of March. So once I began to read it I will give you an update on the book!
